This morning I had 5 or 6 of these birds show up flying from tree top to tree top. Does anyone know what they are they are sure a beautiful bird.

It looks to be a Hawk of some kind, possibly a Coopers Hawk. Is the underside really as dark as the photo shows? Or is it lighter in color with either bars or spots?

Naturenanni I think you've got it!! Your picture certainly looks like an American Kestrel to me. Well spotted and well photographed. :-D

Yep, I think you nailed it. I am not familiar with Kestrels so didn't even think of that one, but something about the face of the bird in your photo just really didn't look right for any of the Hawks I see down here.....now I know why. ;)

LOL! Me either until now! It says they are predators so I will have to keep an eye open on my small birds.
