I ordered 3 new hosta and some lamium 'Beacon Silver'. In order to plant those plants I had to transplant several smaller plants, heuchera's, coral bells, and astibles, to allow enough room of the hosta to grow. I'm going to get a few more lamium so they fill in the empty spaces. Right now, it still looks bare as the established hosta are just starting to come up but I'll post some pictures in a couple of months. I think I'll be happy with it.
Hi. Painting pictures with plant arrangements - the more you get the more interesting it becomes - Hostas and Astilbes like the same conditions and the foliage contrasts nicely with each other - add still more different shapes to the group and a lovely show quite apart from the flowers. Syd.
Sounds nice 2ofus. Hostas, astilbe, lamium, heuchera are all favorites of mine for the shade. I take it you do not need to worry about deer foraging where you are?
Sounds very nice. I have lots of shade and am always looking for great plants. Right now my lenten rose is in full bloom so I thought I would share a photo.
I'm also going add a few pulmonaria this spring and this fall plant English bluebell and snow drop bulbs. My shade garden is under a huge fir tree and the roots are terrible so everything is an experiment is see what will survive.
