I got up to check on my potatoes on the stove. As I rounded the corner of the living room into the kitchen I saw this clinging to the post just under my bird feeder.

Upon closer inspection I was so delighted to see this only 10ft from our front window.

I was so thrilled to see this Pileated Woodpecker up close, and personal. I was praying that the Sharp shined hawk was no where around. I hope that he is to big for them to try and catch. I will be keeping a sharp eye out for him in the future at my feeders. What a special treat and something else to be thankful for.

How wonderful! I always look at it as an honour when the birds choose to visit my feeders.

The birds in your area must be in need of quite a bit of help at the moment with all the snow.Let's hope your visitor becomes a regular guest.

Those pics are great! How lucky that one of these precious birds came so close to you. I didn't realise that they came into "civilation"...I thought that they were a "deep woods" species.

I appreciated seeing these pics, 2-T.

Great photos, the first one was a little scary not knowing what it is and after that it was a beautiful revelation.

How fun to get such a pretty visitor. Now that he knows where the food is he'll probably be back. I've seen a Flicker in my yard and am trying to keep him coming back.

Great shots of the woodpecker. We have one that visits the telephone pole in our yard regularly. Gets right on the tippy top of it and you can hear him pecking away. I once thought it was someone knocking on my door.

Thank you everyone for all the seeds, likes, and patches.

He has been back a second time doing the same pose.

Mart those are great shots. I would to see them coming to the feeders in the summer. Maybe they will. I am keeping my fingers crossed.
