The orioles are really fun to watch...the young are checking everything out. I have noticed them drinking out of the small bird bath that I have on the patio and also bathing in it....The best time to watch them is in the morning....the one I was watching this morning seemed to be watching the other birds (sparrows, finches)....and doing what they were doing. They were on the patio chairs and pecking at things in the crack of the cement patio...

Thank you 2ofus, Cayuga morning, Eileen, Islandlife and Philip...

Sherry, I was in the city about a month ago, walking with my family when ahead of us on the side walk was a little bird taking a dust bath. We stopped to watch, and maybe because we stopped, others stopped too. In both directions, everyone stopped to watch the little bird performing its morning dust bath. When, task done, it flew off, we all exchanged smiles & continued on our way. Hearing about your orioles reminded me of that, there is something heart-lightening about watching wildlife just doing what they do.

Cayuga....I was watching an Oriole this morning, a young one. He was trying to sit on the branch of my cigar plant but his weight kept the small branch going down to the soil in the planter.
...My husband said to me the other day, do you notice that the Orioles always finish off one of the containers before eating out of the other one with the jam. I have watched them all week and sure enough, they finish one container before moving onto the next. I always have 2 out at a time but if they keep emptying them so fast I will need to add a couple more of them
