Photographing hummingbirds

    If you want to take pictures of hummers, or many other birds, without showing the food source, try this. Secure a nice twig close to the feeder and then wait for the birds to occupy the twig. Works for me all the time.

    Kildale, thank you for the idea--it had never occurred to me. I'll get a branch and put it close to a feeder and see what photos we can get.

    I have trees too close to the feeders so they fly into the trees and the trees are full of leaves so it is very hard to see them. The rest of the birds that come up close to the patio all sit on our patio furniture, so every week we have to clean it.... I have towers for plants that they also use..
