I have never noticed any pink ones, even at the nursery. I will keep an eye out for them. Our neighbor had the white ones and she wanted them gone years ago because the snakes liked to use them for a resting area....that kept me from ever growing them while we lived in that area. (we had plenty of grass snakes and pine snakes in the area)
Eww, snakes I have quite a few white ones and absolutely love them! I've never seen the pink ones, just in the magazines. Maybe it's a hoax?? You know how some of those catalogs "mislabel" plants...
They're not a hoax as I've seen them for sale by some very reputable plant catalogs but I haven't seen them in any nursery around here.
I bet they are really pretty! Pink is my color I wonder if they are as fragrant as the white ones? I will be keeping an eye out!!
My mom has some pink in her back yard. They seem to be dwindling. How do we get them to spread? If we can, I'll see what I can do to send some your way.
Cool Beans! Do they get enough moisture? Mine white ones went nuts this year with the wet winter we had
I'm not sure exactly how to take care of them. My cousin gave us some and that was it. She said it grows like a weed at her house and she needed to thin it out because it was taking over. Her husband is the gardener and we lost touch, so I can't get any more. I have to rely on the ones she gave me to spread. Their color has faded a bit too. Any advice anybody can give to get these guys to spread and get back to full color will be very much appreciated. Once we can accomplish that, I'll be happy to spread them around. I know they are VERY rare.
I found this link where you can buy pink lily of the valley. They are rare and more expensive than the white ones but I'd say they sound as though they're well worth the money. http://www.easytogrowbulbs.com/p-1117-lily-of-the-valley-pink-3-flowering-size-pips.aspx
I don't know if either of these sites are of any use to you but have a look and see what you think. http://www.amazon.com/Plants-Valley-Convallaria-Majalis-Rosea/dp/B004LYTRAU http://www.rhsplants.co.uk/plants/_/convallaria-majalis-var-rosea/classid.2000014404/
I'm so glad you found someone with pips. Now it's a wait and see game. Be sure to post photographs once those pips grow and produce lovely, pink lily of the valley flowers for you.
