what would be the most popular size of small pot? Like at nurseries selling small plants, what size do they usually use?, (4" or 5" clay pots)? What's the most used small sized flower pot?, -Thanks

It all depends on the size of plant they are selling. However I would say that I see more 4" pots in our garden centres than other sizes. These tend to be used mostly for bedding plants and herbs.

4" is the typical size for like Eileen says, bedding plants and herbs. If the plants have a massive root system then you would need to use 6" pots to keep them healthy.

It depends on what size of plant you want to pay for. There are many sizes to use or choose from. Also remember the larger the mature size the larger the pot size you will be buying. Flowering, vegetative, a vegetable? Annuals, perennials, shrubs, trees? I never see clay pots for sale unless they are empty. Most pots are now plastic or a biodegradable source.
