A couple of years ago I had a Pumpkin Pie Coreopsis in this pot but haven't found that plant since then so it has been sitting in the garden as a decoration instead. Late last summer these leaves started growing, it grew a bit but stayed the same size all fall and winter even through the ice storm we had late last year and has now begun growing again.

If it's a weed, please give me the name so I can do some research on it before deciding to keep it or not.

Looks too pretty to be a weed. However... I have no clue what it is or isn't. Any way to go ahead and let it grow to see if it will flower? If so... I think you've found a keeper if it survived the heat of summer AND the ice.

It's not going anywhere because of me until I know what it is. ;) I agree, it is really pretty and anything that hard through our summer deserves to be given the chance to prove itself.

I agree it is too pretty to be a weed. So you're certain it isn't the Coreopsis? The foliage sort of reminds me of a Coreopsis.
P.s. again - I am so jealous of tout green growing plants this time of the year!

I was hoping it was the Pumpkin Pie Coreopsis coming back but I that one had long, very narrow leaves

    Gosh that leaf looks familiar.

Could it be something like Erigeron annuus. I think that it is called fleabane in english. We have a type of that here.

We have a weed that looks like that here but have no idea what it is. It doesn`t really hurt anything just sits there like yours is doing. Don`t remember if it actually flowers but seems like it may send up a small stem that has a sort of bloom. Ask your county extension agent what it is. That's what I do here. You can email a pic.

It's a pretty green plant. One man's weed is another person's potted plant.

I seem to have a knack for growing a variety of invasive weeds. They were not considered that originally, but times change and after 30 years I am still enjoying their easy maintenance.

Will be interesting to see what your little beauty really is.

This is very cute. The only thing that comes to mind is:

It's confined to a pot, that's good. If it blooms get it identified. If it is in fact a weed get that flower cut off before it spreads it's seeds or you night be very sorry.

I know nothing about these flowers you all mentioned but this plant, toni, is very beautiful. Weed or not. Keep us posted.

My guess is Fleabane too Toni. I thought maybe Aster at first.

I cut a leaf off the plant and held it up to photos of Fleabane leaves I found online and I think you all are correct about the ID. Thanks all.
