Can anyone tell me what is happening with my cactus. I just noticed this today and have no idea what I should do. What are the whiskers? sleep warm ed
Those are aerial roots and usually means the plant is lacking nutrients. Get some cactus food and follow the directions for feeding it.
That looks like a christmas cactus...I have a couple of them, growing new leaves on the end of the stalks, but no whiskers. I'm happy to see I appear to be doing something right!
Looks like dragon fruit (Hylocereus) or something similar. (None of the holiday cacti have spines.) An epiphyte, the aerial roots are the plant's device for climbing. Perfectly normal, often showing up more in high humidity, like when outside for summer.
