Purple flower that close at night inc pics

    I live in Georgia and noticed this flower last spring. It came back this spring and love it. Can someone tell me it is?

    That's Tradescantia occidentalis (Prairie Spiderwort)

    It is a perennial, down where I am it is evergreen.

    They don't close at night, each bloom only lasts one day or until the heat of the day gets too much for them. But they bloom a lot all spring, summer and thru fall until the first freeze.

    And it will bloom more profusely in partial to full shade.

    I didn`t know what they were but I have them in our road ditch !! Thanks for telling me too !! Might dig them up and add to flower beds before county shredders mow them down !!
