I have planted red onions this year. Appear to be coming along nicely with lots of green onion shoots sprouting over the past 3 weeks. Are the greens edible? Not that I want a lot but say I needed a green onion garnish on a salad, could I go out to the garden and snip one off? Its been years since I've grown onions. Am I correct in thinking its time to start harvesting when the greens wilt?
