Those legs look as though they don't quite belong don't they? I guess he/she will grow into them in time. :)

That is the first baby kildeer I've seen! We have them, but never see the nests nor the fledglings. Thanks for a new experience, Kildale!

He is so cute! I've seen one nest but never any of the babies. I'm glad you were able to see him and get such a good picture.

They are impossible to see in the nest, as soon as they are born they can run.

When kildeer fly over, they call constantly. It's a high, piercing cry, impossible to mistake. When I hear it I start looking for the sharp-winged birds flying overhead.

They make the noise any time you are near their joungsters. I've taken a lot of pics of them as they run ahead of you, then fly on a little way and wait for you again. They just take you away from the young ones. These pics show how they look to see if you are coming and when they fly ahead.

I've been told that this may be their second lot as they started very early.

There's a family across the street from us! I've been watching and waiting. Finally this little one made an appearance. I couldn't get any closer without getting in the neighbors yard.

It was the baby killdeer that took so long to get a picture of, the adults are a bit easier. 01 killdeer.jpg 01 killdeer1.jpg 01 killdeer2.jpg

I love your 3rd shot Kildale and would love to see it framed and hanging on one of my walls.
