I expected to see the unexpected and I was not disappointed. For picture #2 I was looking around for something but did not want to clip a leaf from a plant so I went to my fall seed collection. I thought all I was going to see was a shinny surface. I found that even this small world is loaded with surprises. My excitement was in overdrive at this point, I wonder what will be in picture #3?

You are looking at the surface of a daylily seed and even colored by artificial light I did not expect to see much. Boy was I wrong.

It looks positively scaly--like an alligator's hide; very unlike what one would expect from a glistening black daylily seed!
