I planted zucchini and this is what I'm getting. Anyone know why?
And yes I'm making salsa today. A good rainy day project.

Donna, those strange zucchini look like Coosas. Do they have a very small seed cavity? We have planted Coosas (intentionally) for two years, and they are really great with a nutty flavor and firm texture.

If the flesh is stringy it could be an under-ripe Spaghetti Squash.

Unripe spaghetti squash is what it looks like to me. Is it a running plant or just a large one like zuchinni ? Spaghetti squash are running plants similar to butternut squash.

Donna, that looks like Coosa or a close relative. Whatever it is, I hope it's delicious, and that you enjoy it!

Those look like the ones that I grow. I grow them expressly for the flavour. I think that it was called, "Wanda". ---A courgette called Wanda.

I believe that the spaghetti courgettes have a yellowish-orangy inside don't they?

Well, I am not sure about this one, but my light courgettes are not long and skinny, but rather oval like yours.

Sjoerd, Your right it is spaghetti squash. I'm wondering if the seed came from my composted soil. Or maybe the voles moved it there.

Wow....well I reckon there's no way of telling now.
I hope that you enjoy it. If you like it you can always buy some seeds next season and then plant them where you want.
Gardening is fun in many ways, isn't it?
