Ed has two trees in his front yard....I'd never paid them much attention before, but I noticed last night, as the light was waning, that there are flowers on the trees! I ran back inside to get my camera, and to tell Ed because I was so excited! They're tulip poplars. He planted them back in 2000, and said they were "barely twigs" when he put them in the ground! They're so gorgeous now! Sorry the pics aren't brighter....it was getting on for twilight by the time I snapped the shots.
Beautiful blooms and huge tree, the State tree of Tennessee. Our database doesn't have many photos of the tree and blooms, would you kindly upload them to Liriodendron tulipifera (Tulip Tree, Yellow Poplar, State Tree of Indiana, State Tree of Kentucky, State Tree of Tennessee)
Done! Not sure if you just wanted one of the entire tree or the flowers as well. So I uploaded all 5, and it looks like they need to be reviewed before they're posted anyway, so I'm sure you'll ignore what you don't want.
Just approved them, thanks much!! I was hoping you would upload all of them, it's always best to have the full size tree along with the blooms and leaves. It makes it easier for viewers to ID a tree they are searching for info on and it all adds to the completeness of our database.
Ronnie,..well spotted and thank you for capturing the images so we could admire that tree and its beautiful blooms
I've heard of them but never seen one. I'd love to have one!! If I had one of everything I like I'd need a million acres
