Just finished eating it....oh my goodness with a homemade light vinaigrette, pepperoni, tomatoes, onions and green bell peppers that i grew outside and just picked Sunday..along with a side of steak...lol!!! That was so satisfying knowing that I grew that lettuce and peppers!! Even had enough for hubby!
What I learned is that I have to plant a whole lot more lettuces...the taste of soft lettuce is something that i absolutely love and no pesticides or rinsing. Starting French breakfast radishes and baby turnips (thought I'd give them a try..at this point not a huge fan but others on videos make them look appealing).
That salad must have tasted as good as it looks! We grow lots of lettuces (what we don't eat friends like to get). You might want to look into Midnight Ruffles, Red Deer's Tongue, Oakleaf, and Red Sails. They are all tasty and have different flavors. We never liked turnips until we grew some and I shaved them into salads. Now we are turnip lovers!
That looks like a great salad to me. Somehow home grown is just so much tastier that shop bought. So glad there was enough for you both.
Oh my word, Hummer---that looks absolutely delicious. The steak looks good--what cut is it? Your fresh salad really looks appealing to me. It really is a good feeling of accomplishment isn't it...plus the knowledge that it is "clean" veg. Well done, you. Chapeau.
Aww thanks guys... Marlin..I will try some of those..I'm willing to try sautéed turnips... Thanks Eileen..yes it does. Sjoerd...thanks...it's chuck..my favorite!!
