Butterfly identification. Could anyone help me identify the butterfly? Size is like 20x15x10cm( topxsidexbottom). The one is the biggest butterfly I have ever seen. I caught it by shoes box. In those pictures, the container is airjordan sports shoes box which is always bigger than other shoes boxes. Black item is my mobilephone pouch. Finally I let it free. Or you may visit my msn space for more pictures. http://cid-4b362104f8550631.skydrive.live.com/browse.aspx/Butterfly Thanks! I have a couple of books I have been looking thru and doing Google searches for butterflies in Sinapore but nothing any thing like yours yet. It really is a gorgeous creature.
Thanks! I really know nothing about butterfly. I am curious and want to identify it. Forgot to note that my mobilephone is 102.8×54.8[/b]×12.9mm in size. You may find how big it is by that pouch.
I looked up moths of Singapore and it is a moth. A very interesting and beautiful moth. Sighting - Invasion of the Lyssa zampa moth Here is a link. http://butterfly.nss.org.sg/home/
Well done Gardenmama!!! :-D Neither wonder I couldn't find it in any of my butterfly books. What a gorgeous moth!! Here's another link with photographs of this lovely insect: http://images.google.co.uk/images?sourc ... a=N&tab=wi
Well done!! Thanks a lot!!! One more question. What is the difference bewteen a butterfly and a moth? In Chinese, moth means or soulds like an ugly and dusty butterfly. How come a moth looks so beautiful? Maybe I should go to search and learn more about moth and butterfly. Btw, because of its big size it felt so powerful and great when it swung and flew in my room even though frequency is low. That is an impressive experience for sharing. Hehe~
I found this website that gives you lots of information about the differences between moths and butterflies. http://animals.howstuffworks.com/insect ... terfly.htm Really interesting reading.
Thanks Guys for all your help. I really learnt so many in last few days. I have read that interesting artile. My stereotype of butterflies and moths is fading out in my mind.
That is definitely the most unique butterfly I have ever seen. Wish we had butterflies like that in my area!
That's a really big moth. But it's very beautiful Death's-head Hawkmoth (Acherontia atropos) is the biggest we have here in Sweden.
