Where is it at ? If you were here in the U.S. I would say it looks a lot like frost bitten Johnson Grass. There is an ornamental grass that looks similar but have no idea the name. Doesn`t look like a grain.

Mart--I couldn't possibly give you a hint here. Just keep on a-lookin'.

This pic has been viewed 24 times, but only Mart was brave enough to guess. Come on guys--you are usually so good at guessing these.
    Right then, a hint.

Hint: The pic was taken with a trail cam. Can you see the animal that set it off?

Toni-- That isn't the right answer...but don't give up. I will add another hint in the morning if no one gets it tonight. Thanks so much for trying. Everyone is so hesitant this evening.

I see something dark behind the post but can`t tell if its an animal or something else.

I can see the bird feeder hanging and I can see the grey rock (which I thought might have been something else) AND I can see the dense black just behind the light colored post. Now IF you'd of been here I'd of immediately thought the dense black was a small bear (cause here if you're out walking and see a flat solid black image it can turn into a black bear real quick!) but somehow in your photo I'm not thinking it is a bear.

To the RIGHT of the rock - is that an Owl?

Sjoerd, I have copied your pic down and enlarged it but no way can I see anything. My guess would be a mouse or a vole but that is just guessing.
I believe you said your trail cam was a cheapie, well the image quality is pretty good.....

And before anyone asks, Yes I do have other things to do on Christmas Day, just waiting for my wife to doll herself up before we go to our daughters for the day. :):)

Good morning Island. Gosh, I really liked your guesses and explanations. Really good imagination. The thought of a black bear--now, that was super. It is not an owl, another good guess there, Island. So far, you are the closest to solving this visual mystery.
I am going to hold off just a little while longer with giving another hint. Perhaps when you wake up this morning, you'll see the foto with totally different eyes. You too, Mart. Come on now girls!
Why haven't the men here seen anything?
    Oké then, one small hint:
When you discover this, you are going to say, "oh, I see"!

Hahahahahaha....oh dear me Raddang...You make me laugh hard. Well you did pretty good as well. I have to tell you though mate, you don't have to enlarge the foto to clearly see and solve the mystery. A valiant effort for the men's side though, showing great ingenuity and the ability to think outside the box....sadly, all not necessary to solve this simple quiz. But do not despair, you are closer to the answer than you think.
Have a good day with your bride and think about this quiz now and then whilst visiting, then look again when you get back home...orrrrrrrrrrr use your daughter's tablet and get them to help you. hahahaha. Good luck.

Stop teasing Sjoerd, I have got to go now to my daughters and her family and it would be very rude to sit there following this on my mobile........BUT if proceedings get a bit boring, perhaps I will :):)

    Have a great day.....
