I am wracking my brain trying to remember when I planted these last year! I have no clue, but they sure are pretty!

I'm talking about the tall flowers...whose name I have totally forgotten...ya gotta love those senior moments, huh? o_O

The white Easter Lilies in the background were a gift from a friend, in a pot, last year. I planted them at the end of the season and they totally died away and I didn't honestly expect them to come back. But sure enough, this spring, I saw the little shoots poking up out of the ground, and I was SO excited.

And that daylily in the front is from my old house. One of the plants I dug up and brought with me, because it was planted over our family dog Chloe who passed several years ago, as a memorial to her, and I just couldn't bear to leave it behind when I moved. It's also thriving!

Those are Gladiolus and that one is very pretty. The quintessential hot weather flower. The leaves will die back not long after blooming, leave them until they die so they can absorb energy for next years growth.
The Lily is supposed to die back after blooming. Leave the green stems on until they turn brown and fall over, like all bulb plants they absorb energy for next years blooms from the sun after this years blooms fade.

That's a real beauty Ronni with bi coloured flowers. I was sure I'd planted gladioli bulbs last year but none have come up yet. Maybe the pesky squirrels transplanted them somewhere else?!!

You are feeding my plant lust now with your very pretty Gladiola! I may have to give them a try. Is that the only one you planted?

Wow, I guess gladioli are hardy in your area! We have to pull the bulbs every fall & store inside.

Your glad is gorgeous & I like the color echo with the daylily.

Well, as I can't remember planting even those, I have no clue! :p:D

There are three of them, they all look the same, but that's the only one that's currently in flower. I'm curious what color the others are going to be when the buds finally open.

Toni, thanks for the info....need all the tutoring I can get! :D

Gorgeous. My mums favourite flowers as they were the first blooms my dad ever brought for her. I grow some on the allotment for cutting and bringing home.

    Hi,
They were my mother-in-law's favorite & they were her mother's favorite too.

EJ, question for you: how big are these allotments? I am in the States & have a plot in the Community Garden (that's what it is called over here), but I get the sense these allotments are quite big. I hope you don't mind my asking.

@Ronni, I especially like the dark edging on each of the gladiolus flowers.
