Would anyone be able to ID this tree found in a semi-jungle area of Michoacan, Mexico (southwest Mexico)?

No one knows about the fruit 2ofus, but we are intrigued. I was not able to go on this particular jaunt to Michoacan and a friend took the photos, probably from a phone. The photos are a little dark and not as revealing as they should be. Still, the tree has some unique features, one of which is the fruit. I don't know why he didn't go to the closest small town and ask people what it is called. They would have given a local common name but from that i could most likely trace it back to the scientific name.
