This is at a house just down the road from me...Is this a Buddleja -commonly known as the butterfly bush? The blooms look different to me and I've never seen one this size. I am 5' 11" and those bottom limbs are at face height on me. I think.....Vitex, Texas Lilac, or Chaste Tree - Vitex agnus castus.
Vitex agnus-castus (Chaste Tree, Texas Lilac) Mine isn't nearly that large, when I planted mine there were small trees in the front yard but in the 5 years since then they have spread and turned most of my front yard into a shade bed. But it does bloom every year and smells wonderful.
Thanks toni. It is a beautiful specimen, smells good and bees were all over it. Do you know if the Vitex agnus-castus (Chaste Tree, Texas Lilac) can be started from cuttings? Thanks again.
