    Looks like a hummingbird moth to me.

    Cheryl is right--they also are called Sphinx moths. They are so interesting, and do look a lot like a very small hummingbird. They are usually out at dawn and disappear shortly after, so you really got a rare and wonderful picture.

    definitely a moth possibly a hummingbird moth The variety of moths is amazing and I got crosseyed after a half hour of mothy pictures.
