    Hello all,
I have just discovered your community and it's incredible the wealth of knowledge that one can find.
I am trying to figure out what the plant in this picture is. I was thinking some sort of Aralia (trevesia), but I'm not certain.
Any guesses would be ever so helpful.

    Thanks!

    David

It very much resembles a Trevesia palmata, but the leaves are a bit different....maybe a species I haven't found info on or a cultivar of the palmata?

Welcome to GardenStew, hope you will hang around a long time, we are all very friendly....promise. Where in the world do you garden?

Hello Toni, thanks for the warm welcome. I'm in northern NJ, zone 7 represent!

I'm glad I'm not the only one the plant has stumped. That leaf pattern is so distinct, I'm determined to find out what it is.

We have a few members who are way into unusual plants so hopefully one of them won't be stumped and help you out.

    Hi David, and welcome. :setc_034:

The plant in your photo appears to be a Manihot species -
possibly Manihot grahamii or maybe Manihot carthagenensis.

    Thanks zuzu's petals.

I think it's totally a Manihot carthagenensis, wow, nice work!

What a wild looking plant. As a matter of fact a lot of these Manihots have interesting leaf shapes. Thanks again:like:
