I bought a packet of "mixed summer squash" and this is one of them. I can't find it in any of my catalogs, and I've never seen a white scallop squash before (and oh, the squash I've seen). Can someone identify it for me? This one is about 6" across.

Yep, white patty pan squash. It comes in green and yellow too. From what I have read it is more tender if picked when it is 2-3 inches in diameter.

We have the yellow ones also, called "Sunburst". I stuffed two small yellow ones with a sausage stuffing and we had them for dinner. Very firm and good-tasting meat, but a bit seedy (I'm used to Coosa which has very few seeds). I"ll try the white one and see what it tastes like.
Now that I know at what size to pick (thank you, all!) I'll keep an eye on them. I have the feeling they aren't going to go over well at the food pantry since they are "different".
