I would like to know what is the best long keeping onion from seed? I would need a long day onion.

I was told that a onion started from seed will be bigger than one from a bulb.

The only thing starting from seed will do is take twice as long to grow. What is your location ? I am in Texas and I usually plant Texas Sweets, 1015`s, and another I can`t remember. Get the started onions if you can, cuts your time in half. But try to get them as early as you can and get them in the ground. If they get too old before you plant them they will go to seed before they reach full growth. Onions can take cool weather fine.
