I didn't want to hijack somebody else's thread, so I am starting this one.
What is the rundown on diapers in flower pots?

I know some people who have used diapers to aid water retention. However a roll of kitchen towel or wad of toilet roll does the same job and is biodegradable. It saves you paying out for diapers and having to rip the plastic off them.

I use them but I don't rip the plastic off. I bought new born size and just cut the elastic off. Then I kind of criss cross 2 of them so they don't interfere with the drain hole. I like them because they last for years (3 or more years) and I can still replace or refresh the soil without moving them.
