I live in S. Florida and I have many dollar weeds growing in my yard and some in my gardens. I also want spread some grass seeds to fill in the small patches of soil in my yard.

    1. I want to know which I should do first. Should I spread the weed killer first, than the grass seeds or vice versa?

    2. Can I do both at the same time?

    Thanks,
    Scott

Depending on which herbicide you use you could be killing your lawn too. Dollar weed spreads by both seeds and underground roots so it can be difficult to get rid of, hand pulling is usually the most effective way of getting rid of it since you need to remove the roots to completely remove the dollarweed.

It likes over watered areas, poor drainage and thin lawns and usually shows up in unhealthy lawns. You might want to concentrate on improving your lawn first, check for disease, insect infestation, soil lacking proper nutrients and be sure to mow at the proper height for your type of grass. A healthy lawn will keep dollar weed out.
