    Ranunculus repens - Creeping Buttercup ....it is not on the Invasive Plants registry for Texas and it isn't a Texas Native (that's why the Lady Bird Johnson Texas Native database didn't have it).

    It requires moist growing conditions, that's probably why you are seeing it now because of all the rain you have had down there. In the summer, when rain is scarce and the ground gets really dry it will be dormant and that could be preventing it from becoming as invasive there as it is further north where moisture isn't so scarce all year round.

    I highly recommend Texas Wildflowers- A Field Guide by Campbell and Lynn Loughmiller. It has several hundred plants and photos. And with each copy sold the University of Texas press will make a contribution to the National Wildflower Research Foundation.
