I had planted carrots in half of a raised bed. All we got was weeds. I figured that I'd planted bad seed or planted too deep or too late. I went out to weed the onions today, and we have carrots, lots of carrots! The Danvers Half-longs and the Rainbow carrots fought off the weeds and are growing like mad. Now I need to thin, rather than to grieve over a lost crop! The chickens ate the weeds I pulled, and we'll eat the carrots--happiness all around!
Good for those carrots battling the weeds and winning. Your ladies enjoy the weeds while you enjoy the carrots - winners all round.
Yay on the carrots. And given your description, I'm impressed that you could tell the carrots from the weeds! Now if it were me......but we won't go there!
