2ofus, lime and lemon rind, mushrooms... Great with chicken and sauces and soups.... It's great for flavorings and takes so much less space......

Everything looks so good in those jars...we used to can but with only the two of us, we quit doing it. Tomatoes are so much better than the ones you buy in a can but what isn't when they are grown with love and homemade...

That's a shame you stopped Sherry, it's just so much better! Did you ever consider canning into smaller jars?

I do most of my canning in pint jars because of the 2 of us. You should try it Sherry.

Same here--almost everything goes into pint jars for canning, and and pint bags for freezing. There are only the two of us, but I still enjoy canning and freezing so much that I would do it, no matter what!
And you are so very right, Sherry. Home grown and home preserved just tastes better!

Hi all, I had many thousand quart jars. I still have them in the garage but am now using mostly pints. We are only 2 now also. I still can enough for about 3 years so I don't have to do a certain thing every year. If there is a bad year for tomatoes I have a 2 or 3 year back up. Like I have no peas....so my large crop will be peas this summer. Yum, can't wait...
