I planted a clematis several months ago, early in the season. I had no expectation that it would do much more than sit there...y'know, that sleep/creep/leap evolution perennials tend to go through ;)

It didn't do much at first, then it started putting out some decent vines which slowly climbed the porch upright to about head hight. That alone surprised me, I didn't really expect that kind of growth. The last clematis I planted, several years ago, hardly did anything that first season, and not much the second, either.

Anyway, imagine my surprise to see this beautiful, perfect flower on the vine! I had zero expectations of flowers this season. I'm pretty stoked! :D

Wow! That is a beautiful clematis! I'm glad it took off so fast for you. I've found that clematis do grow at different rates. Do you know the name of your clematis?

Thanks guys. I expected I wouldn't see a flower till next year at the earliest!

No, I don't, not off the top of my head. I kept the tag thing though, so as soon as I get back over to Ed's, I'll take a look and tell you. I'm pretty sure the tag said it was white though, so those lavender edges really surprised me. I take it though!! :D

I have always thought, if you got many different color clamatis and planted them in the same hold on a trellis or arbor, how cool that would look......

Love your color Ronni. That's the one I started with..
