Pond in garden is very beautiful and gives a character to it. However, in country I live in, I mean Poland, you need a permission to make a pond. Is is necessary in your country? I think that is it..insane, because it's my garden so why I have to get an approval to make it in the way that I like? Whatever..I was interested in ponds and I found some usefull tips, which are very important so they will help everyone who want to make a pond. Firstly, big influence on which fish to choose has depth and area. What surprised me was that in bigger pools, it is easier to keep biological balance, and there are less algaes. Although you should be aware about number of fishes, because if there is too much of them, amount of oxygen is not enough.
Have you got a pond in your garden?

Here in Scotland we don't need permission to build a pond - thank goodness. I have a fairly large pond in my garden. I don't want fish though as I prefer the wildlife to use it to breed in.

I have wanted to have a koi pond for years but never got around to it... I never heard of any regulations that limited or prohibited their construction in my state.

This is insane, why shouldn't you be able to do what you want with your own garden? A pond is really a beautiful thing, so if it doesn't take much effort to get it approved you should absolutelly do it. Good luck.

Hi i put a little pond in my garden summer 2017 its added so much interest its mainly for wildlife but i have put four fish in it for the grand kids to look at,

Getting permission for a pond in your own back garden is stupid whats the reasoning behind it ?.
