Young Ring Dove did a nice visit today

    While I was on the back garden today I went a long the path and lying on the gravel was a young Ring Dove, I only usually see the adults...so I soon got hubby to grab his camera :rofl:

    Eileen it just lounged about on the gravel in different spots for ages, i thought it was injured at first until i saw it moving about ok :)

    They are not injured,, but they rest in areas where the background color is similar to their own ! Predators have a hard time finding them if they do ! The rocks in your garden are a similar color to theirs ! We feed a ton of ring necks and mourning doves !

    Hello @mart, the pigeons do the same but being young I thought it could have been injured...it must be a delight feeding so many, as I really do think they're graceful in their manner.

    They can eat you out of house and home but we have the fattest doves around. If its cool where you are it may also have been enjoying the radiant warmth of the stones !

    Hi @mart i think it's mainly the warmth because as i'm answering you, 3 pigeons are sunbathing and lifting their wings but if i open the kitchen window more to take a shot they'll fly off.

    I enjoyed seeing the dove shots.
    It is so nice when you can see birds well. So often they are flying or moving about so quickly that you don't really have the chance to study them carefully. Thanks for the foto's.

    I wished I could remember how to use the camera buttons on my camera so annoying because when it's warm out side the birds come down and don't bother but for good close ups I have to rely on hubby :mad:
