No matter how small I resize, this picture shows up large. Any tips to help me out?

I will try another program...adobe elements 11 didn't work either.. Now this is too small and I don't want people to have to click on it to see the photo..

I don't want to down load another program when I have some on my computer already so I guess some photos will just be large....

I don't mean to insult your intelligence Sherry, but I'll offer a suggestion because I made this mistake repeatedly till I figured out what I was doing wrong, idiot that I am!!

I'm on a MAC so our applications will be different, but Preview is the onboard program that allows me to view photos on my desktop. I can resize directly from preview, which is where I had trouble. No matter what I did, it kept showing up the same size. I'm not a novice when it comes to computers so this really stumped me.

Long story short....the program won't automatically save the edit...I had to actually hit "SAVE" in order for the changes to implement, otherwise they just reverted to the original. Doh!!!

Flickr is a good for ease of editing and resizing if you upload your photos to an external hosting site. Every time you use a photo from there, you can choose its size, of you want something different than the default you've already chosen.

I am resizing them, my camera is a canon . I tried resizing quite a few times and my computer saves all of them. But when I put them on here they are large. Facebook you don't have to resize at all and it is so much easier. Cropping won't work, it ruins the picture especially the one with the light pole. Thanks for trying Ronni.

Gail...yes it looks so much better smaller. But I don't want another program on my computer . I paid for the photoshop and it works great except for here. I guess I will just either quit posting here or look at the large photos. Thank you for the help. I have joined so many of these places where you store your photos and I don't want to waste my time having them in so many places. I was hoping there was an easy fix. I will keep trying and see what happens. No problem with doing that for me, I appreciate you doing it.

@Sherry8 it's a shame about your pic's and thinking of not posting them...there is this one it's a free online picture resizer you could add to your search bar. http://www.picresize.com/

Ronni this is what I do with my windows 10 it's a built in app to resize and I just press save and the image comes up as (2) next to the original.

I emailed it to myself and put in a different size. Simple and easy, try it.

Are you sure you are uploading the resized file and not the original file before resizing @Sherry8 ? Sometimes I can get my directories mixed up i.e. one directory contains the original and another directory holds the resized version.

November 9, 2018 004 (2).jpg Frank my photos are large and I make a copy of them to resize for here. They start out at 5184 x 3456 pixels and I downsize to in the 993x1491 somewhere close to those numbers. it said 638 KB on the one photo.

    November 9, 2018 004 (2).jpg Now I went way down on this one 356x534 pixels, 150 KB
I guess I have to go way smaller than my original, I have never did that here. It always says a 2 or a 3 depending how many copies I make and then it means I had resized so it shows up here.
