I love figs! Luckily they grow easily here in Libya. I have tried growing them from cuttings with a success rate of 90%. However, this is my first time to grow Figs from seed.

I bought some dried figs that is imported from Turkey and soaked one fig in water for couple of days then freed the seeds from the fig (using sieve and rinsing water) and dried them for a day then sawed them in a cover-able plastic container filled with peat moss. This was on 16th Feb 2018, after less than a month (today 12 March 2018) I gout sprouts!! They literally made my day. Cant wait to grow them up and see what kind of fruits they bare; I hope they surprise me with a kind that is rare here.

Here is the photo of the baby figs sprouts (Taken 12 March 2018):

I detest dried figs but love them when they're fresh. Looks as though you're going to have a good crop there Liono.

I have a large 20 year old Fig tree in our backyard, we do not eat them but in July and August when the fruits are ripe, it becomes the largest waving and singing bird feeder in the world.
And over the years many of our neighbors have most likely wondered what that pretty tree is that is coming up in their yard...they didn't plant it but the birds did after leaving our tree :)

    Hi all,
Here is an update of the fig from seeds. It seems these grow very fast and now they took shape, I have few survived because of my own negligence, anyway, all I wanted is to prove to myself that we can fairly esaly grow figs from seeds. (Photos taken today 09 December 2018):

Congrats on the Fig treelings!!!! We have a very large Fig tree in the back yard that we planted almost 20 years ago. We do not like Figs but the birds turn that tree into the world's largest bird feeder every summer when they are ripe. Then a year or two later we start seeing new Fig trees coming up in yards all around the neighborhood. ;)
