Gail once your tank has cycled the levels you are looking to achieve are:

Ammonia levels should be 0 ppm
Nitrates should be kept below 10 ppm in freshwater aquariums.
Nitrites should be undetectable at all times.
PH in the range of 6.5 – 7.5 is suitable for most species.

However as Kazza has said these will fluctuate until the tank settles and the good bacteria has built up. You should only be thinking of removing some water once (at the very most) twice a week.

Hello Eileen I've decided on twice weekly Wednesday and sunday at 10% of water and also cleaning the tanks flters etc and on a monthly basis..changing all filters and bio stuff besides but on the days cleaning the filters also soaking ornaments etc to keep things right till the measurements have established themselves properly and to also control myself with constant testing of the water, as hubby thinks i'm over doing that to much.

If you're unsure of how to use it take a look on Utube for a video.

I've viewed one already where the tank was the same size and using the same vacuum.

It doesn’t surprise me @Gail-Steman . Yes, items can be much cheaper on EBay. However, sometimes you need things quickly so you have no option other than to buy locally which sometimes comes at a cost.

@Kazzawazza cleaned the aquarium ad vacuumed it, I see what they mean about stale algae in the bottom of the tanks.

Well everything is stabilising nicely in the aquarium and I like doing this and yesterday I change the colour cover from red to blue and it give it a proper ocean look...come spring I know I will be upgrading.

Hi @Logan it looks an ocean blue but to take a video of it with the blue attachment doesn't show the fish up so good, so I removed it to add another video...here's what the tops like and I captured a pic with the blue light on but on the video excuse the reflections on the glass...as it's gone sunny here and the living room as loads of light :)

Logan it's not a bad size and should fit nicely across the wall where the other unit is...in the hollybush it's getting on for nearly £300 but the Range are doing it cheaper...hubby will have a shock if I say I want one sooner :whistling:
