Well the packing has begun and so has the bleeding. Sliced my hand open, not badly but inconvenient. She will just have to do it all on her own.
    :whistling:
With the Utilities, they want us to supply info that we do not have, like the meter reading for the place are are going to. How can we give that when we do not get in until the afternoon of the moving day? Even more stupid is that it has to be done on line and we will not have access until the following day at the earliest.
Also they want the name and present address of the person buying our property, which we don't have either.
At least the water should be easy. The bill for that goes to the Farm down the lane.

I seriously am terrified of this event. packing up our belongings and moving. we have been here almost 30 years now. that is an enormous amount of accumulation. two businesses being run from here and all the stuff that is part of them. eee gads! you cannot imagine all the stuff we have. plus all the household stuff. I was just cleaning out winter clothes this morning thinking... how many of these sweaters do I really need. or I haven't worn this this Winter yet... toss it. two big bags of stuff ready to go. or my kitchen or canning stuff. nooooooooo. I need that stuff.
I guess, though, as our children establish their own households (hopefully soon) they will take all of their things with them leaving me with less to worry over... such as each of them has a piano here... that is big. one has all kinds of hunting stuff.... cats and a dog... all the cats have to go with their people and its not me. dog has to stay. we have plans to downsize and also move to a smaller house during the Winter and be snowbirds eventually so I will need to have enough to take there too but not the stuff needed for the other three seasons up here.

Palu--- We had the same problem with the utilities. What I did was to simply ask if I could come to the new house and take a foto of the meters with my telephone....and explained why. They were very easy and accommodating about it.
If you have an iPhone or similar, you could do the online bit with that, in principle.
I am just making these suggestions because it is the way we had to do it.

I am so hoping that it will go smoothly for you.

Did I understand that you have not yet met the folks that will be buying your home? Is that normal there?

Continued good luck...I shall be watching this space.

Oh my word, Carolyn. Not you too!!? hahaha...you are moving as well?
Well congrats. I know that you will have much more than we did...but I will tell you if you have tag sales or simply give usable stuff away as we did...the 2nd hand stores or charity stores came and took away loads and loads of stuff. Perhaps it will be the same there for you there.

I find it good that you and yours are planning to be snowbirds with a property in Fla. That is wonderful. Downsizing sounds wise as well, when you have THAT much stuff.

You will still do the markets during the summer tho, right?

We have met the lady who is buying ours, but we have never been told her actual address.
We do not had even a mobile phone never mind one of those fancy gadgets.
The place we are moving too is empty, so getting in before the due date is a bit complicated involving Estate agents. Easier to do it on the day and come back here and fill in the forms before we hand over this property, with any luck.

. Our offspring left home more years ago than I care to think about and we still have a lot of their stuff here. They all have bigger houses too!

seriously... I hate this cold weather. but we are not going to fla. I don't like it there. and yes we have much more time to plan and downsize as we are just starting this project. Kevin is developing breathing issues in the really cold weather and I am not staying here just because our parents did all winter long. we are looking at a lot already and have friends close by who will help with the legal aspect of it as it is very not convenient to us being 1600 miles away. and yes I will do my markets. at some point I probably won't start flower seeds just buy plugs already started and not worry over that. some of those I can propagate and not have so much to fuss over. I saved a bunch of plants last year to do this to this Spring so I am off to a start already.

Most annoying thing today was needing a special drill bit to dismantle something where the screw heads had rusted away. Could I find the box with the drill bits in? Could I heck. Took me ages to find that they were in a box labelled 'Small garden tools'. Cannot blame anyone for that, it was me that packed the tool shed.

Isn't that always the way!! Thank goodness you found the drill bit eventually. Let's hope there are no more obstacles and the move goes smoothly.

Boxes to the left of them, boxes to the right of them. Boxes, boxes every where . Last day here. Last ever bath last night (shower only in new place). Going to be very naughty and take some garden stuff down this afternoon. No idea when we will be back on line so wish me luck and have a good day.
