A dear friend is moving and gave me some plants. Can you name this plant for me. I believe it may be snowdrops though it doesn't look like the ones I have. Thank you.
There are many different types of snowdrops. Take a look at this link: https://www.theflowerexpert.com/content/aboutflowers/wildflowers/snow-drop
Leucojum vernum has the little green dot and is called Spring Snowflake. Galanthus nivalis does not have the dot and is called Snowdrop Galanthus nivalis (Snowdrop) Leucojum vernum (Spring Snowflake)
Thank you, Odif, Eileen and Toni. Well that solves my question. I thought they were snowdrops but you all have confirmed that. I never knew there were so many varieties. Now I will have a good look at all that I have to see whats what. Lovely though at this time of the year. David M
Hi @David M definitely a Snowdrop as members have stated as we only have a few in the front garden which are slowly showing now
Hi Gail, Thanks for looking at my post. After looking Snowdrops up and so many varieties, I amazed myself by counting five different varieties in my gardens.
Hi Gail, I apologise too for being late in a reply to you. I believe there are about 275 different variants of the Snow Drop. Amazing. Alas, my own now have faded away till next year except for the odd ones.
Hello David, ours have done the same till next year, I thought I had lost 2 Astilbes but one is coming through nicely
Hello Gail, Shame you have lost a plant. The winter gales and heavy rain have hammered some plants in my gardens. Luckily I haven't lost anything yet. Though the daffodils, tulips and a few other plants have been battered yet are still flowering.
Hello David, yes I've also got plants kicking off way to early and my poor Camellia as flowered early before the actual flower can open properly in the centre the heads are dropping off, it's knocking my neck in seeing it because last year was a glorious lasting show
