The 3 sisters gardening method is planting such that, pole beans use the corn as support and squash cover the ground.

Have you ever tried this gardening method or some variation thereof? did it work as you expected?

I want to try it on a small scale.
a 2x8' bed with corn + bean + squash (pumpkin sounds good too)
it seems like a very efficient use of space.

I wonder if Pumpkins might take over and crowd out other plants? Just a thought.

I think the timing is important. First the maize and after the beans and pumpkins.

Corn takes a while. Think like someone concerned with winter survival and plant a winter squash..like a pumpkin?

Tossing Halloween pumpkins on a compost heap supplies plenty. Personally I do not like pumpkin, not even the pie.

:like: Hummer, I reckon you could sell them or give them away.
Maybe even use them as green fertilizer?
