Well, I have been accused of "rabbitting on" on occasion. How did you know Dirt?

We are up in Western NY State at the family farm. I helped my brother plant some daylilies around the deck, the we took a walk through the woods looking for harvestable cherry trees. There were some beauties

Wow Cayu!! I would like to see some piccies of those cherries and the wooded area there.

No garden work today--it was called on account of rain, soooo....we bottled up honey and popped out to feed the park deer.

Thanks a mil for the foto's. It looks really interesting. I can see that you have some trees marked for removal. The wildflower meadow looks so charming. It looks ideal. Your farm house looks so comfortable and inviting. I can well imagine that you guys long to visit it frequently. It seems isolated and restful.

Carted 5 more contractor buckets of compost to the community garden and spread them on the tires. Trying to build up that soil!

Watered the leaks, remaining tomatoes & the Swiss chard.

Planted a cover crop of peas to turn under.

picked bushels of greenbeans yesterday and the day before. I canned 2 bushels of them today, that made another 28 quarts for the next year for a total 49 quarts and 12 pints.
Done with beans tomorrow is grape juice or raspberry jam. both need done.

s, just my lowly opinion here but get a new queen or whole box to add the queenless hive to. don't wait on a queencell to develop. I tried that early in the year and the queencell that was in my split failed because the weather was too wet for a mating flight and I ended up rejoining the split back into one hive again. its too late for a mating flight at this point for a new queen I think.

Some day there will be Fall in my garden....I hope,....maybe....hopefully before I can not truly enjoy it. We still have 90+ temps here. And no rain unless Tropical Storm Imelda comes our way...otherwise we will be literally be high and dry for the foreseeable future.

Grape Juice? Did you accidentally spill any yeast into it?
