This weekend I did my first snowshoeing trek and my sweetie watched the game at the lodge‘s bar. We got to the ski area early for my group class so Sweetie got a perfect table by the TV and chatted up people throughout the day. I, on the other hand, spent the day trudging through the snow. This was the final field trip for the Mountaineers snowshoeing course. The class broke into three groups, fast, middling and slow. I chose the later. The area we went in gave lots of opportunities to experience groomed trails as well as undisturbed snow. I personally love groomed trails, a great way to enjoy the winter.

I’d love to try Nordic Skiing (what used to be called cross country skiing). But like so many things, including it’s name and equipment have changed. The ski park was full, and one snow park was full and not selling any more tickets.

Still it was a pleasant day out snowshoeing around the lake. it was an opportunity to practice the basics while getting helpful coaching.

It’s never too late to get out there and learn and experience new things. How about you? What’s the next adventure you are ready to step into.

    You look cold!
It looks like you have good kit there.
    Great that you are active.

    Sounds like fun Jewell!
Hubby never wants to do anything active with me either, he would rather sit indoors and tinker with things.

Snowshoes-- When I lived and worked in Alaska, we played "Snowshoe softball". It was played with a broomstick and a slightly deflated soccer ball. As one would run around the bases, he would have to take a drink of beer each time he touched a base.
I think that most folks who lived in Alaska at that time had walked on snowshoes...but RUN? Oh, did I mention that in snowshoe softball, you had to wear snowshoes,

It was actually a very comfortable day temp wise. The day pack seemed huge though. I carried tops and bottoms for rain gear but fortunately didn’t have to use them.
Looked up snowshoes to buy. They now have some made for specifically for running. Now that is a hard core runner. Wonder if those Alaskans have anything to do with them.

Being outside was great. I will do it again. Hope you find the time.
    Beautiful! What a lovely picture.

LOL, at least he is being productive. Mine Sweetie is a big kid and often is playing games on his iPad saving the world.
