Dateline Feb 3, 2020. A mosquito actually got after me in the house today. It blew my mind they were out already. Last year I had some neat traps with yeast and sugar mixed with a salt level since they survive fresh water but evidently brackish water is sufficient to kill the young. Do you have a mosquito trap formula that works? These were called "spartan" traps and look like slender plastic tubes hung from a tree. I actually had people wonder at how we had no mosquitos last year. I only bought 2 and set them on either side of the house.

Buy some Mosquito Bits, then search all over your property for any standing water, sprinkle a little into each puddle and they will die.
No puddle is too small, water sitting in the tray under a potted plant, a puddle of rain, a puddle created by watering plants in a shaded area where the sun is not likely to dry it up quickly.
Mosquitoes are more active when the temps are above 80 degrees but some species have no trouble getting to work on humans and animals when the temp is in the 50's.
Since it appears they are in your house, check the soil of any indoor plants, soggy soil is a great place for a mosquito that finds it's self inside to lay eggs.

Oh I live IN the woods. These traps emit carbon dioxide as the lure. That is the by product of the yeast pooping sugar. Passive poisons work, but nowhere nearly as good as a CO2 trap. Thats why I was asking. The traps are about 15 bucks each after tax. No reason to not reuse them a few times.

I'm in hot and humid north Texas where we are mosquito free for maybe 3 months a year if winter shows up, but usually it does not and all you have to do to lure a mosquito most years is open your front door. Making sure they do not get a chance to hatch is much more comfortable and healthier here than being bait when you do not have to.

Wanna know what happen when you use a LURE? Would it shock anybody using a scent trap for japanese beetles that they are attracting beetles from downwind? It is not a perfect trap, But...my wife thinks I am a beetle whisperer. Mosquitos are next after last years success.

Traps are reloaded with 1 cup sugar, a pinch of yeast and a tablespoon of salt. I hope this goes well.
