Did you know a well-known livestock and pet food company makes treats for chickens? I was amazed. Our hens are spoiled rotten with pasta, rice, ends of homemade bread, but packaged treats?
I went to the feed store to give the guys homemade bread, and the owner had sample packets of "Farm to Flock" hen treats. He gave me a box of the packets which are nutritious and organic. My gosh, those ladies are eating healthier than we are (the cats are eating healthily also, except for the occasional mouse or cricket). Somehow, the world got turned upside down. . . .

Ok, right then....a treat for chooks?!
Are you supposed to say, "Sit"? ..No wait, I mean "Lay"? ...and then reward the chook with a treat?
Or is the treat meant to simply spoil the girls?
What IS this world coming to! Do the hens hold the deed to your farm?

The chickens own the farm and the humans are paid with eggs.:)

Humans are required to learn about the latest chicken treats, Jane is doing a great job. She gets more eggs!!

Jerry, the cats own the farm and the hens are "renters" that pay off in eggs. How I got so under the paws and the chicken feet, so trained, I don't know. I have the feeling the "meek shall inherit the earth" does not include cats nor hens. They own it now!

You just reminded me of a fun author by the name of Pollan. He pointed to pigs and noted that prior to them associating themselves with humans, their population was small and ever since they outnumber people.

I have seen chicken treats at the local feed stores... I would much rather give my chickens (what part of the world is "chooks"?) treats, than to feed all of my hard earned eggs to some no good thieving snake in the hen house, thank you. Although my chickens/chooks get all kinds of table scraps--half spoiled lettuce, green beans, any kind of leftover beans, mashed taters, dog food, etc, instead of the expensive kind of treats.

Have any of you priced meal worms for the Blue Birds lately?! That is like giving them caviar!

My chickens/chooks also get lots of fresh salads when I weed my garden too.
