It looks like a dandelion and if so has definite medical qualities.

Although the leaves look like dandelion,, I don`t think it is ! There is a large plant that looks the same but is a very different plant ! Dandelion grows close to the ground and will have a yellow flower followed by a seed ball that you can literally blow the seeds off with your breath !

Well GEE! You’d think we would have known this!

I looked up dandelion and apparently that’s it. Some have red stems, others are green.
I’ve never been able to pull one up by the root because it always breaks off.

I recognize it ONLY after it flowers.

My daughter is looking forward to foraging them and mushrooms on her wooded land soon.
    Thanks

Your best bet is to send photos of unknown plants to you local county extension office...it is connected to a local university and they study local plants. They can ID it for certain to prevent accidental poisoning. Never eat or use as medicine any plant that has not been 100% verified as safe for human consumption. There are many look-alike plants that can make you either very ill or kill you.

You can not tell by looking on the internet which is safe and which is not ! You better know what you are doing before you start eating plants you do not know ! That is especially true for mushrooms ! Eating the wrong one could be a fatal mistake !

Let me put it this way...if that conversation had been about Weed....you would never have seen the post. That is no-no subject.

This one is easy to clarify,, there is Weed and then there are weeds ! The latter is what we discuss !
