Decided I would try it but tahini could not be found here ! Recipes said it could be made without it so thats what I did ! First of all,, chickpeas are the least flavorful bean I have ever found ! So I cooked them again with 4 small garlic cloves a bit of salt and cumin ! Still had no flavor ! So I processed them with the lemon juice, roasted garlic spread and half of the spices in the cabinet and some good EV olive oil ! Finally got something edible but nothing to brag about ! Have any of you made it and how did it turn out ?

Chuckle! I have made it & I happen to like it. What's that saying? That's why there's vanilla and chocolate ice cream?

You should fry them. I was following a recipe and learned to use either a lid or a helmet. You choose.

Why would anyone bother making Hummus? It's nothing glamorous to begin with, as it's a poor man's dish in Arabia, as far as I know, (people who can't afford to eat anything else, regrettably have no choice but to eat this)...

A can of baked beans is actually more costly then a can of Hummus over here - Regarding nutrition, it is alright, as it saves young children of poor households from stunted growth. But regarding taste, it's nothing special.

Maybe someone from Arabia would disagree with me. But this is only good for camping trips, as it doesn't spoil so easily. Or fishing trips, so that in case you don't catch any fish, you at least wouldn't starve to death.

CM and DM ok,, give me the recipes you used ! I have heard about frying them but have not tried it !

I am with you S-H but since I had heard so much about it figured it was worth a try for $.89 a can !
I think I may add a bit of curry powder to see if that helps !
What we always carry on fishing trips is a hunk of good cheese a can or two if vienna sausages and a sleeve of crackers ! Maybe a can of sardines but I am not a fan of sardines ! Now since I am fishing in my back yard I drive the kubota back and make a bologna sandwich !

Mart, Kroger near me carries it, you want me to send you a jar? Or you might be able to mail order from them.
I like Chickpeas...plain with a little salt and pepper on them.

Thanks Toni but I can buy it here,, I always prefer to make it myself if possible ! It was experiment day in the kitchen ! Some say its the best thing since sliced bread so figured I would try it ! Normally I like any kind of bean dip but it has to have some flavor ! This just doesn`t have any ! It was a good brand too !

In a world, where every type of recipe is now available for free online. And every type of food making how-to video on YouTube - Why on Earth would you now want you make Falafel?

S-H falafel is not common on this side of the world.
I could say, with all the good stuff to eat out there, why would you bother with a hamburger? ( Or P&J, etc)

I just asked Zigs what tahini was. He said it makes your mouth go small like this if you eat it,[IMG] so I thought it might be like sucking a suppository for haemorrhoides. :snicker:
