Doing things yourself these days has got quite expensive.

I'm up to £350. Bur I'm nearly there, the length of pelmet is paid for and I just need a bit of plasterboard for the boxing in above the pelmet.
It would have been more expensive to "get a man in," if I'd been able to find someone willing to do it, given how hard it was searching and how long it took to find the right gear.

As the firm "Kitchen Door Workshop" who made the doors had been so helpful, I sent them a thankyou e-mail and a copy of the photo. They replied asking permission to use it on their social media. I didn't think it was that good. I said I don't mind, as long as I can remain anonymous.

You won't believe the amount of cardboard and bubblewrap there was in the carton in which they came.

Another day in the kitchen! I'm freezing the poultry stock after skimming off the fat, scurrying out to the garden between rain showers to pick lettuce and check on the tomatoes, and consoling the cats because it's damp outside, which interferes with their plans.

    A job I didn't want to do.

I've a lot of kit below the Sony Android TV I've got in my den....alright our small front room. I dislike seeing cables and there's a lot to hide behind the TV.

    Two Humax HDR tuner/recorders.

The larger and older of the two I use to "file" recordings under "categories," but only recordings I want to save.
The smaller and newer one hasn't this facility, everything has to go in the same "bin." But it's handy for when there are more "disposable" programmes on at the same time I want to record than the Virgin Tivo box can handle.

A Virgin Tivo tuner/recorder. There's another under the matching TV in the lounge.

    A CD/DVD player.

    A VHS recorder/player.

The VHS machine I've kept as I've some "film noir" I've had for decades. Eventually if everything I've still left on VHS comes round again on TV I can record it on the Humax.

    I've six remote controls!

This afternoon I decided to play a DVD.

I used the TV's remote to select which of the six HDMI imputs I want.
Then it was just a question of turning on the DVD machine ith its remote.

    Wrong! It wasn't working.

Checked the batteries on my battery tester, they were fine. Then it was a process of elimination. Starting with the mains plugs. There's two on each of the four sides of an adapter behind the TV.
Turned out it was a bad connection in the SCART to HDMI adapter I have to use, as the aging CD/DVD player and the VHS machine only have SCART sockets and the TV only accepts leads with HDMI or USB plugs. So it was a case of putting a strong elastic band around the plug and the adapter to get a connection. So I've ordered a new adapter, they're only £7.

Watching international speed skating competition and garden planning for next year.

Loggie, I think your garden plots have character even in that wet-looking snow.

Walking in wet snow is no fun; I wait for the dry stuff.

Switching between watching Emma Radacanu playing an exhibition match at the Albert Hall, (first match she's won for a bit, 2-0, playing her friend Elena-Gabriela Ruse ranked 66 places below her), also Davis Cup Tennis, The Snooker and Women's golf in Spain.

The length of pelmet (all 3 mtrs of it, it's all they do) arrived this afternoon and it's up.
Shopping tomorrow, but I'll pick up some plasterboard from Homebase on the way back and finish it all tomorrow afternoon.

Tonight we will watch ladies voetbal and afterwards....
“The Outlaws”. it is a typically British comedy. I find this type of humour interesting and quite funny.
