That's a shame, but good that you got to see the place :)

I enjoy them too, spent most of my life working on/above/in/under them :D Did a lot of work on Whitchurch Canonicorum, there is the sarcophagus of Saint Wite in the church...

There are bones in the stone coffin  If there's something wrong with a bit of you, you put the bad bit in one of the three holes under the tomb and the saint makes it better.

You are right my Bride and I spent quite a while in that place looking at the different sarcophagi. We did not work on any sites, but spent much of our lives just travelling and visiting historical places. Of course our travels periodically had to be interrupted for short periods to return to Holland to work or take care of things financial, domestic, insurance and such. How nice it would have been to combine the curiosity and interest with work in that field as you have.

    Nice pic with interesting description.

I was inspired by seeing an excavation at Hampton Court Palace as a child :) I saw a Tudor shoe dug up from a cellar there and thought I wouldn't mind doing something like that.

I've since worked in Henry II's ensuite toilet at Clarendon Palace :D

    Fascinating stuff, Zigs.
Perhaps you will write about it on here sometime.

    Ta Sjoerd :)

I have no pics but a friend might make a video with their drone camera next year. I'll start a thread if they do :)

Thanks for that link. The wall painting is much easier to see on the link. I will look that incident up. I liked seeing that.

    Great vid. Thanks for that.
When travelling through Britain, I quite enjoyed visiting the small churches and chapels.
That is an interesting tower. What can you tell me about that.

I love your town square Sjoerd. Very quaint and of course historical.

And the Sint on his white horse! He looks majestic.
So you all have both a Sint AND a Santa?

Hiya Cayu. We do have both...sorta. The Kerstman (Santa) we know, but only that. He is not to be found in malls, the telly or anywhere else, Just piccies and on a Christmas card or two. We see the good man as an advertisement/economic figure, but not really like there. Of course we know of the stories and the role he plays there.
