Spaghetti and tomato meat sauce for dinner, from reduced home tomatoes. A taste of summer. :stew1::stew2: I've found a wheat free pasta I like. It is made from Red Lentils and holds up and tastes great. Pretty excited.

Please, what is kousenbanden? I'm always open to new foods, but I need to know where to start!

That's a cool word. I like that one. Do they taste different than regular beans? I see them in the city grocery sometimes.

    Ajam ketjap this evening.

Re: Kausenbanden. I do not know an english name for these long, skinny beans…if they are indeed a bean actually. At any rate these plants ace common to the warmer climes of Asia, and the Caribbean Isles.

The restaurant from which we ordered this take-away was a Surinam eatery. It is a typical food in their cuisine.

Mel, they taste slightly different from regular beans, but similar. We could buy them in the little toko’s in the town, for if we would want to make them ourselves. Call me lazy, but I believe that no one can make it like the cooks in that restaurant.

Jane—I have looked further for a word and I found twee : yard long bean and asparagus bean.
I will tell you that they taste nothing like asparagus to me.

Ah ha! I've heard of, but not grown yard long beans, also known as asparagus beans. I can get seeds here, and just may try them this year if I can find space in my garden.
    Thank you for your explanation.

You are welkies Jane. It took some searching, and I realised that I have never used an english word for these. Never.
While surinam food is popular and all over this country, I never speak about it to english speakers. Funny, those little things in life.

Tonight is a hearty beef stew, with parsnips, turnip, green beans, corn, peas, carrots, onion and celery. Potatoes are on the side for Hubby. There will be GF dumplings on top.
