I used to use a nitrogen fertilizer made from municipal waste processing - "Milorganite". I stopped before moving to my current place, which is on old plum orchard land and before that, forest. Biosolids are promoted as "green", "natural" "eco-friendly". Recently I read about biosolids use on farm land. Biosolids are municipal waste, processed. It seems like a big movement, promoted as "environmentally friendly". In both cases, these are not simple to understand. Municipal waste contains toxic minerals and toxic chemicals. I have not read about pesticides and herbicides, which can be in commercial landscaping-derived composts for gardens and sometimes kill garden plants (it has happened to me, including in a bag of "Miracle-Gro" potting soil). My dogs at the time loved Milorganite. It's really stinky and dogs just love "stinky". Supposedly it will deter deer, but I don't know about that. I'm not expert. There are lots of articles, and no one can read all of them. I stay away from these products.
Once I spent some time digging on the web and came up with an actual study that covered many pages of fertilizer. Milorganite has metals at a rate higher than the others. In alkaline soils it is probably meh, but acid dissolves metal so here in our 5pH soil I stay away from it.
The thing nobody is telling you guys, is that it contains many medicines too - Which people consume, including antibiotics, as well as powerful anti cancer drugs. But most damaging, is the contraceptive pill... This is what's ruined the numbers of male crocodiles in the Florida Everglades, as well as the North American bald eagle - Decades ago I saw a documentary about this. So if I was you - I'd stay the hell away from that stuff. This by the way is also the reason (although nobody is going to admit to it) why girls as young as 7 to 9 are hitting puberty early. Also explains why the latest generation of boys are having weak bone structures, while girls on average are now taller than the previous generation. The number of intersex babies born nowadays is also skyrocketing. Again, nobody will agree, and those in authorities who know what I'm talking about, would rather die than admit it... But do your own digging online, and judge for yourselves. By the way, that documentary I saw on TV decades ago about all of this - Can't find it anymore, wonder way???
