    I'm impressed!

But we haven't a vegetable garden.

Still, I managed to "pick" the raspberries and cream in Waitrose and my wife gets the flavoured meringues from her shopping channel.

With all the rain we have been getting at least the chore of watering is covered. Other than that haven't done much except check on the garden and fill the bird feeders.

Not a lot today, but I did give the roses a spray of Sulphur Rose. There is a bit of evidence of black spot on some, but nothing like the problem I had last year.

As usual, the bamboo has thickened up, it always looks a bit sparse early in the year and you could see through part of the canopy.
It gets no special treatment, other than the removal of any dead canes in the Spring.
The black wire crossing the roof of the pagoda, is the 6v feed from the tea-house to the trail/cam next to the hedgehog doorway in the fence.

The last of the rhodos is fading, this will need dead-heading soon.

The first of the clematis along the back fence, mostly hidden by the azaleas and rhodos is flowering.

This is one of our giant lilies. It needed to grow this tall to be ready to bloom to escape being hidden by the wisteria foliage.

It was a golf day today, so I just did a lot of watering when I got home.

It was one of our Club's Wednesday competitions.
I came in with a net score, after handicap deduction of 69, one under par.
But I came second to a woman with the same score, net 69.
In the event of a tie, the winner is determined by a,"back nine play-off." Whoever's score is the best after handicap, on the back nine, wins.
Her handicap is 24 shots higher than mine!
But there you go! "Them's the rules."
I'll still have won a few quid.

Hi @Zigs. I think you can grow melons. I'm in 5b USA. Of course our season isn't very long but there are some great hybrids out there for us cooler climates. I successfully grew little cantaloupe one year. That was fun. If I run across the picture I'll have to share it now Good luck

@Doghouse Riley I can't help but think living next to you, who enjoys gardening, maybe they'll catch on.

Are you in the town with the tall Column? I was going to say the name of the town; but I don't know if that's, "legal" here. I almost moved there once. That town is very cool!

I was on it when my granddaughter was a baby and toddler. It was a good way to show pictures to friends back home. I haven't been on it for years, she's 15, now. I make scrapbooks instead. I go through stages, I do quilts, until I get tired then I do scrapbooks...until I get tired. Right now it's quilts.

I did nothing today, I needed to pick up my Azure order and was soaked just getting the umbrella out of the trunk! It rained off and on all day today. I think I have a bumblebee nest between a couple bricks in my bulkhead. I had a chipmunk in there a couple years ago. I was looking at my potatoes one day and saw a fat little bumblebee on the berry flowers. I watched him and he flew in front of me and over to a crack, then landed and walked in. I haven't seen any honey bees this year. Usually my raspberries are filled with them.

Not everyone posts such boring posts on FB. You can choose who your friends are, and whether or not to 'follow' their pages... And you can block people whose posts you do not like. You can also remove ads that are objectionable to you.

We have had loads and loads of rain, however we did have a mostly sunny day today. I got some weeding and pruning done. No need to water anything with all the rain we have been getting. I am still finding walnut trees in wrong places... I pull every one I find.

DS did get two pieces of drain pipe laid. He plans to finish when he is home again.

My rose of Sharon bushes have a few blooms already. The echinacea is in full bloom. There are blueberries on my new bushes. My 'lemon' lily is blooming also. My pear tree has lots of pears, and the elderberries are doing fantastic this year. I think all the wild ones are doing very well, even in other places. The black-eyed Susans are doing great.

My favorite cherry tree is dead from the cicadas last year. A few others are severely damaged, so I asked DS to cut them down. Allegedly cicadas do not damage trees, but they sure damaged my cherry trees. They had millions of cicadas on them. I hope the armadillos get their grubs.

I pruned various tree branches yesterday and today that were overgrown.

Very warm today, pruned off a lot of new shoots just above the roots of the wisterias and several on higher branches.

I've just given the acers a spray and put my lawn sprinklers on for a few minutes. the pots will get a watering tonight. Here in the UK, we can't be far off a hosepipe ban.

I gave this big acer in the front garden, a lot of water last night.

It's the turn of this hydrangea, I bought earlier in the year to, "stand guard" by the front door.

This morning I weeded ( and I use the word lightly) as best as I could the corner border by the greenhouse. It's a deep border and with relatively tall planting and shrubs and I find it difficult to get into the middle of it. Some tall 'weeds' we're left at the back of the border as their flowers are looking quite pretty.;) I plan to move some of the Irises in a month or so as they have become a bit congested..
Planted the remaining Cleome in the border. They did well there last year.:fingerscrossed:

It got too hot by midday so I have taken a break and am just going back out to do a bit of deadheading on the East Patio as it's now the only little bit of shade we have. I will then go back out after 6pm for an hour or two..not that the temps will be dropping much but we will have evening shade developing a bit by then.

    Enjoy your afternoon everyone.

Spent the morning doing the laundry, (well the washing machine and tumble dryer did. I just swopped it from one to the other, then folded it and put it away).

I watched the tennis on TV all afternoon, I could swop between Queens, Nottingham and Berlin.
    Did more watering.
    Then cooked dinner,
    Now I'm watching the golf.
I'll break off in a minute and prepare the raspberries, meringues and cream...again.

It's all go when you're retired innit?
